It's certainly far from my definition of 'high fantasy'. I'm tempted to go through the text and count the number of times Jon Snow is referred to as a bastard. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. After suffering for several hundred pages, I have pleeeenty of things to say. Ned, made lord-regent by Robert's will, enlists Littlefinger's help to secure the loyalty and assistance of the city guards to challenge Joffrey's claim on the throne and place Stannis on the throne; but Littlefinger betrays him, resulting in Ned's arrest, and the death of his men. I had to back up the story several times because I'd get lost or have trouble remembering who somebody was. And that means war.
